If you’re buying quality chocolate then it needs a little care and attention to keep it at it’s best – don’t we all?
- Chocolate should be kept in a cool, dry place
- Ideal temperature for storing chocolate is 65ºF and 50% humidity.
- High humidity will cause ‘bloom’ which is a white haze on the chocolate.
- Do not store near heat or direct sunlight.
- Light will fade the colour of chocolate.
- Because of it’s relatively high fat content, chocolate easily absorbs other flavours and odours which can taint its flavour. Don’t keep near chemicals, cleaning products, perfumes or air fresheners.
- Never keep chocolate in a fridge – apologies to everyone who likes their chocolate cold! The moisture causes the chocolate to sweat when brought back to room temperature and it may not melt properly.
